Information about your surgery
Consultation visit
Referrals for patients who
do not attend Smile need to have a consultation appointment with
David to assess their needs. Patients referred by our dentists in
Smile may need this consultation for more complex treatments but
not generally for routine procedures.
What happens at this
consultation visit?
At this consultation visit,
Mr Pagliero will answer all your questions about your surgery and
provide you with a printed estimate of treatment costs. He will
explain about the procedure along with anything you should know
about aftercare, time off work etc along wth details of any medication
that he recommends specifically for you.
Is there any paperwork
that I need to complete?
You may be asked to complete
a consent form and sign your estimate to ensure that we have explained
everything to your satisfaction and to prevent any misunderstandings.
Should I take time
off work for my surgery?
Most oral surgery is minor
and will not need to have time off work. You will be advised if
we feel that some time off work is indicated. Treatment under sedation
requires that you take the day off but you are able to go back to
work the following day.
Will I need any medication
afterwards?
Any discomfort is usually managed
well with paracetamol or ibuprofen. You may be given antibiotics
to prevent infections.
Can I drive afterwards?
Some patients prefer to have
someone drive them to the practice so they do not have to worry
about driving home after a procedure.
